H.V & L.V Protection Course Overview

The H.V & L.V Protection Course we offer is classroom based and combines both theory and practical exercises. Some of the topics covered in this course include:

  • Need for protection systems
  • Distinction between Load and Fault Currents
  • Classification of Faults and Protection Philosophy
  • Faults and Fault Levels
  • Fault Level Calculations
  • Measurement Devices (CT's and VT's) and their characteristics
  • Protection Devices, Principle of Operation and Application to:
    • Generators
    • Transformers
    • Motors
    • Distribution System
  • Primary and Secondary Test Methods (Maintenance & Commissioning)
  • Practical Testing of a selection of Protection Relays

The course lasts for 5 days and an exam is taken on the last day. Technaware Ltd has a high percentage pass rate for this course. This course can either be presented at Technawares training room or offbase at the clients offices.
